Suantraí Montessori School is based in Tinryland, (4km from Carlow Town) and opened its doors in September 2001.
The school is run under the ethos and philosophy of the Maria Montessori Method of Education. The Montessori method helps and allows the child to reach their full potential, whatever level that may be. Montessori is a unique method of education which looks at the development of the ‘holistic child’, which encompasses social, emotional, physical, intellectual and cultural development.
In this school, we place great emphasis on your child's psychological well-being, social interaction, independence and full inclusion in school. We can achieve this by getting to know your child’s abilities and interests, subsequently providing a variety of activities and experiences, which reflect and match these interests and abilities.
Maria Montessori says "that the child's mind is like a fertile field in which seeds may be sown to germinate later under the flaming heat of imagination". This is what we at Suantraí Montessori School aspire to.
We are registered to accept children under the ECCE Scheme, which provides 2 years of free Pre-School for every child in the country. Where a child is too young to avail of the ECCE scheme, eligible parents can apply for a subsidy towards the cost of Pre-School through The National Childcare Scheme. This school is registered with TUSLA and regularly inspected by them, to ensure that the high standards required by the pre-school regulations are adhered to. We are also inspected by The Department of Education, and the inspection reports for both bodies are available to view online.
