Suantraí Montessori School Tinryland

Suantraí started in 2001 with a capacity for 8 children, but due to the rapidly increasing numbers, we decided to build a new purpose built school, which opened it's doors in September 2003.

Our school day is from 9.30am – 12.30pm.

We are now a 3 classroom school with a large secure outdoor play area.

The children are split over the 3 classrooms, into small groups, in relation to their age and developmental stage. During the morning, the children gather in a larger group for lunch and outdoor play.

The school is very involved in the community and we get involved in as many charity events as possible, as we try to instil a sense of community, sharing, identity and belonging in the children.

Our curriculum has evolved and changed over the years. We actively engage in an ‘Emergent Curriculum’, meaning that we focus on each child’s interests, and use these as a template to create meaningful learning experiences for each child. We conduct developmental assessments on every child during each term, so both we and parents can track the child's development.

We include outdoor play as much as possible, weather permitting. The large outdoor area includes a slide, swing, sandpit, up-cycled bus, boat, mud kitchen, up-cycled tractor with den, and a vegetable patch.

We upgrade and change the outdoor area regularly, to reflect the changing and emerging interests of the children. In this school, each day is about the child. We endeavour to facilitate all the aspects of development, keeping you child interested, and providing life skills that will ensure the smooth transition to Primary school. It is our principle aim as teachers and carers, to ensure above all, that your child feels secure and happy.

After-School Care

We collect at 2pm and 3pm from Tinryland school. The after- school service includes a hot snack and supervised homework, followed by age appropriate activities. After- school care is only available on a fulltime basis (ie every day after school).

We are on the bus route for Gaelscoil, Ceatharlach, with the bus stopping at our gate at approximately 8.30am and for the return journey at approximately 3.15pm.

Although we only collect from Tinryland NS, we have children attending from all the local and town schools, where parents make private arrangements for the school transfer.

This school participates in the National Childcare Scheme, which offers subsidies to eligible parents, towards the cost of childcare. Please see The National Childcare Scheme website for details of how to apply.

We are open for visits by appointment, Monday to Saturday. Please phone Frances on (087)9079331, to arrange a suitable time to view the school and find out more information.
